Gebhardt & Smith LLP was founded in Baltimore in 1975 by two young attorneys, Larry Gebhardt and Jim Smith, who met while working as associates at a prominent Baltimore law firm. They had no clients, no business, and little experience, but they had determination and the goal of building an aggressive, result-oriented firm to provide legal services to financial and business clients. They built their firm from scratch by identifying and recruiting hardworking, talented attorneys who shared their goals and by attracting a diverse clientele of financial institutions and business clients.
Gebhardt & Smith LLP has grown steadily over the years, primarily focusing upon the practice areas of financial and business transactions, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, and litigation. Headquartered in Baltimore, the firm maintains offices in three states and has attorneys admitted to practice in seven different jurisdictions.
